Description |
This hands-on tutorial will give an introduction of the Accords Platform and how it may be used to build and operate an automated and federated heterogeneous cloud provisioning system. The participants will learn how to build, configure and operate their own Accords Platform cloud provisioning system.
|
In this hands-on we will show how easy it is to describe the deployment
of a VM
using ProActive workflows, for both proprietary software (VMware), and
Open Source software (OpenStack). We
will show in addition a use case of VMware/OpenStack Multi-Cloud
Integration for 36 institutions in Grand
Paris. |
In this tutorial attendees will learn the basic functionality of CloudStack and access production Clouds in France and Switzerland to discover the CloudStack native API. Attendees will then test the interoperability of these clouds with interfaces like OCCI. | This hands-on tutorial will give an overview
of how OpenNebula is used to build and operate
private clouds. The attendees will build,
configure and operate their own OpenNebula
cloud. |
This tutorial introduces the OpenStack cloud software, architecture best
practices and components, learning how to setup your own OpenStack
environment and how it supports OCCI. |

Audience |
The target audience will be composed of DEVOPS and system administrators interested in deploying a cloud brokering solution for provisioning and integration of heterogeneous cloud resources.
|
The target audience will be composed of DEVOPS and system administrators
who want to deploy cloud solutions by means of easy to use workflows,
skipping eventual vendor lock-in with non-open source infrastructures. |
The target audience is system administrators and developers who are deploying clouds in their enterprise and/or who are using public clouds. | The target audience is devops and system
administrators interested in deploying a private
cloud solution, or in the integration of
OpenNebula with other platform. |
Sysadmins, developers and devops with knowledge of *nix CLI and
networking. Previous experience with virtualization environments is an
asset but not a requirement. |
Skills
gained |
Learn about the internal structure & organisation of CompatibleOne, which is built around the OGF OCCI and WS-Agreement standards, and obtain a quick guide to install and run a CompatibleOne server stack. |
Obtain a basic introduction to ActiveEon and to the ProActive DEVOPS-oriented software stack. |
-Learn CloudStack architecture and features -Learn the CloudStack native API -Hands-on management operations -Assess the interoperability of CloudStack clouds |
- Describe the features and benefits of using
virtualization and clouds
- Describe different architectures for a
cloud that can be deployed with OpenNebula
- Deployment and basic configuration
OpenNebula
- Basic operation of an OpenNebula cloud
instance
|
- Design of a production-ready architecture for an OpenStack environment - Scaling best practices - OpenStack services installation and configuration |
Pre-
requisites |
No prior Accords Platform skills are required, but participants should have working knowledge of virtualization, networking and Unix/Linux systems and a knowledge of HTTP is highly desirable.
|
No prior ProActive skills are required. However participants are advised
to have minimum knowledge on Cloud, Linux or Windows or Mac systems. |
-Some scripting language knowledge (Python or ruby) -Some system administration knowledge | No prior OpenNebula skills are required, but
participants should have working knowledge of
virtualization, networking and Unix/Linux
systems. |

Material |
The course includes hands-on exercises to be performed using the participant’s own WIFI enabled laptops with PUTTY, or an SSH connection and Standard Web Browser installed. The attendees will build, configure and operate their own OCCI-interfaced Accords Platform Cloud Broker. |
A wifi enabled laptop with Linux, Windows or Mac OS.
|
The course is hands-on, the audience will be asked to install packages on their own laptop. Access to a production cloud will be provided. A virtual box installation on the attendee laptop would be a plus. | The course includes hands-on exercises to be
